INJECTORS
The injectors have the task of supplying the
quantity of fuel required for the operation of
the engine: the fuel is injected into the inlet
manifold, immediately upstream of the inlet
valve.
The injector is the "top-feed" type, with the
supply of the fuel from the rear of the casing,
where the electrical winding connected to
the connector (6) is also housed.
When the current passes through the wind-
ing, the magnetic field produced attracts the
shutter causing the opening of the injector
and the flow of fuel.
As the pressure differential between the in-
side and the outside of the injector is con-
stant (thanks to the presence of the regula-
tor), the quantity of fuel supplied, like the
electrical voltage, only depends on the open-
ing time, established by the control unit.
The end section of the injector or nose (4) is
fitted with a jet (3) which gives the fuel a ro-
tary motion, thanks to a deflector (2) fitted
with four tangentially positioned flow ports.
The resistance of the injector can be mea-
sured by disconnecting the connector and
connecting an ohmmeter as shown inthe di-
agram.
Value of the resistance:
12 ± 1,2
ohm.
