This machine is equipped with a certified 3-wired cable
with a earthed plug which is certified by Underwriters
Laboratories and the Canadian Standards Association.
The earthed wire has a green casing and is connected
to the machine casing at one end, and to the earthed
pin in the plug connection at the other end.
This plug requires a 3-pole earthed socket (see image)
If your socket is 2-pole then the earthed pin may not be
removed or changed in any way. Use an adapter (see
picture) and always connect the earthed pin to a known
earth ground source.
a. When drilling holes of a large diameter:
First fix the work-piece firmly to the table.
Otherwise the drill bit can catch it and rotate it at
high speed. Only use core drills of the hole saw
type all in one unit.
Never use shank end mills, hole saw- or multiple
spindle core drills since these can break or become
unbalanced. Keep the speed below 1,500 rpm.
b. Ring grinders may never be used on this drill at
speeds in excess of 1,800 rpm.
c. Do not use drills bits longer than 175 mm or which
protrude more than 150 mm under the drill chuck.
These can suddenly bend or break.
d. Do not use wire brushes, surface milling cutters,
profile milling cutters, shank end cutters or rotating
face milling cutters in this drilling machine.
11. Observe the warnings and follow the instructions
on the panel on the left-hand side of the drilling
head.
12. This pillar drilling machine has 12 speeds. See the
inside of the belt casing for the positioning of the
V-belt on the pulleys.
13. Keep safety in mind. Use common sense and
remain attentive the entire time that the machine is
in operation.
WARNING: Do not allow routine, as a result of
frequent use, lull you into a false sense of security.
Remember that a serious accident can occur in a
split second.
Work operations using tools of poor quality can result
in foreign objects being flung out; hitting your eyes,
resulting in serious injury. Always wear protective
eyewear before you begin working with the machine.
These can be purchased in retail outlets.
MOTOR SPECIFICATIONS AND
ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
Motor specifications
The specifications can be found on the motor’s
rating plate.
WARNING: In order to avoid injury caused by
unintentional starts, do not use fan or washing
machine motors or motors with over-voltage pro-
tection with automatic resetting.
Mains connection
The machine must be earthed in order to protect the
operator from electric shocks. Connect the cable to
an earthed socket equipped with a delayed on and off
switch or a circuit breaker. All sockets are not pro
-
perly earthed (see image) If you are unsure whether or
not your sockets are properly earthed you should allow
them to be inspected by an authorised electrician.
WARNING: In order to avoid electric shock, the
metal pin of the plug should never be touched
when the plug is inserted in or withdrawn from the
socket.
WARNING: An incorrectly earthed machine can
be lethal or cause a serious electric shock.
This is especially the case if the machine is used
in premises that are damp or close to water pipes
made out of metal. If you are exposed to an electric
shock, this can cause your hands to collide with the
cutting tool.
If the cable is worn or damaged in any way, it
should immediately be changed in order to avoid
electric shock or fire.
Earthed pin
Always use a properly earthed plug
3-polar mains plug
