Stage Installation
NOTES:
Continue supporting the weight of the
shaft to avoid damage to the mechanical seal.
1. Remove, inspect, and replace the shaft if
necessary.
a. Install the mechanical seal retaining ring
onto the pump shaft.
NOTES:
Only remove pump shaft/ mechanical
seal if necessary.

7. Remove the last impeller, split cone, and
split cone nut.
8.
Remove the floating neck ring and clamping
neck ring from the inlet ring.
9. Inspect the inlet ring for excessive wear.
NOTES:
Remove the inlet ring and replace if
necessary. The inlet/ discharge rings are not
included in any field service kits but can be pur
-
chased separately.
NOTES:
The shaft will no longer be supported
by stages and will fall over or cause damage to
the bushing and seal if not supported.

Single Shell Pumps:
Skip this step.
Two Shell Pumps:
When all stages in pump end shell sec-
tion and the inlet ring have been removed,
proceed by removing the series shell flange
bolts from the inlet flange and safely re

move using safe lifting and handling meth-
ods. Continue stage component removal
process as shown above.
