The pressure cooker is made of
extra-strong aluminium and its use is
recommended in kitchens that use gas as a
heat source. It is not suitable for working on
induction hobs.
Cooking with the Fagor
pressure cooker
Before using it for the first time
Before using the pressure cooker for the
first time, remove any stickers there may
be on it. If adhesive residues remain, they
can be removed with a cloth or paper
soaked in alcohol.
Wash the part thoroughly with mild
soap and warm water, using a sponge or
soft cloth to remove any traces of oils,
lubricants, manufacturing and polishing
compounds. Fill the pot with water to two
thirds of its capacity, close it and place it
on the heat source. Leave it to work for 10
to 15 minutes from the time it reaches it
working pressure. After this time, remove it
from the heat source and let the pressure
drop completely before opening it. Dispose
of the liquid with care.
Wash it again with warm water and mild
soap. Rinse well with plenty of warm water
and dry immediately with a soft cloth to
avoid scale stains.
Depending on the hardness of the water
or of the food and seasoning used for
cooking, it is normal for the part covered
by the liquid or in contact with the food to
take on a darker colour. This will not affect
the food or the operation of your Fagor
pressure cooker.
How to add food and liquids
1
Never fill the pot to over two thirds
(2/3) of its capacity, including the
liquids and the solid ingredients added to it
(Fig. 1). Water, broth, wine or any other type
of cooking liquid, except oil, can be used
as the liquid. Oil can be used to brown the
meat or lightly fry the onion before adding
the water and the rest of the ingredients
and closing the pot.
OIL MUST NOT BE THE
ONLY LIQUID USED FOR COOKING.
2
When preparing foods that swell up
during the cooking process, such as
rice, cereals or dehydrated foods, do not fill
to over the “1/2” level of the cooker body
(11) (Fig. 2). If you exceed the pot filling
levels, the safety devices could be impaired,
increasing the risk of burns.
3
ALWAYS ADD LIQUID TO THE
PRESSURE COOKER.
You always
need to add a minimum amount of liquid for
any type of cooking in the pressure cooker.
This will prevent the pot from running out of
liquid and the ingredients from burning or
sticking to it.
For pressure cookers of up to 10 L capacity:
for short cooking times of 15 minutes or
less, we recommend adding at least 350 mL.
For longer cooking of over 25 minutes, the
minimum recommended amount is 500 mL.
