Testing Network Sensitivity to Optical

Reflection

The IQ-3300 Variable Reflector can be used to determine network
sensitivity to optical reflection. To perform this test, a bit error rate
(BER) tester is also required.

Connect the IQ-3300 to the network as shown in the figure below.

If desired, a power meter (IQ-1100) may be connected to the monitor
port. During the test, this power meter will display the reflected optical
power.

By varying the reflection and monitoring the error rates, network
sensitivity to reflected power is determined.
