Selecting a Display Mode
Reference Mode
When in
Reference
mode, the value displayed in the data display is the
attenuation, relative to a defined reference value. Any value within the
attenuation range of the IQ-3100 may be selected as the reference.
To use
Reference
mode,
1.
Ensure that the display is first in
Absolute
mode (click on
Abs
).
2.
Select the appropriate wavelength by opening the
λ
list box.
3.
Select the appropriate attenuation/reflection to the desired reference
value.
4.
Click on
Ref.
The instrument takes the actual attenuation/reflection as
the reference and the display switches to
Reference
mode.
In the figure below, the IQ-3100 Variable Attenuator is set in
Reference
mode.
Attenuation displayed = Absolute attenuation - reference value + offset
Note:
Clicking on
Ref,
with the
Reference
mode already active, will reset the
reference value to the current absolute attenuation/reflection setting. You
can always track the absolute value in the
Abs
gray box.
