INSERTING ZIPPERS

1.
Baste the front sides of the fabrics so they face
each other.
Sew until end of opening.

2. Press open the seam allowance.
Baste the zipper tape.

Place the zipper face down on the seam allowance.
Match the center of the zipper with the seam line and baste it.
Pull the slider toward you.
3. Attach the zipper foot.
Attach the left side of the presser foot pin to the presser foot
holder when sewing the right side of the zipper, and right side
of the presser foot pin to the holder when sewing the left side
of the zipper.
4.
Stitch left side of the zipper from crotch end.
Sew a distance of 0.7 - 1.0 cm from the seam.
5.
Stitch across the lower end and right side of
zipper.
Remove the basting and press.
Sew not only the left side but also the right side.
CAUTION: To prevent accidents.
Zipper foot should be used for sewing center
needle position straight stitch only. It is possible
that needle could hit the presser foot and break
when sewing other patterns.

NOTE: What is “baste”?
Before sewing the fabric with a sewing
machine, temporarily sew it with long and
loose stitches so that the fabric does not
shift.
