Gear shifter on the handlebar
The bike is equipped with a SHIMANO 8
speed system and the shifter is at the right
side of the handlebar (Fig. 14).
Push lever A to get smaller tooth ratio (lower
gear, and therefore less torque when you
pedal). Pull lever B to get a bigger tooth
ratio (higher gear, and therefore more torque
when you pedal).
Assembly (Cont.)
The rear derailleur (Fig. 16) is the mechanism that allows the bike to shift between
gears (and adjusts for the chain slack that is created when shifting to a higher gear,
and therefore a smaller cog). It is controlled by the shifter, using levers A and B
(Fig. 14 and Fig. 15). It comes pre-assembled for this e-mountain bike.
The gear indicator (Fig.
17) can be seen on the
right side of the bike
handlebars, near the
shifter. It will indicate the
gear in which the bike is
currently operating.

WARNING!
If the chain skips or jumps, the rear derailleur may require adjustment - please
refer to page 10 of the SHIMANO manual.
