Flail knife and fixing elements
•
Strong vibrations or noises during operation generally indicate damage to the blades which can have important consequences for safety. Worn,
bent or damaged flail knives should be replaced immediately, always the complete pair.
•
When changing blades, it is essential to observe the counter-rotating direction of the blade carriers!
•
For blade carriers whose working direction is to the left, for replacement use knife section set (#243.0610).
•
For blade carriers whose working direction is to the right, for replacement use knife section set (#243.0640).
•
Flail knives should not be re-sharpened under any circumstances since this results in weakening which can have important consequences for
safety! Damaged blade fixing elements should be replaced immediately!
Changing the flail knives (a) may only be carried out with protective gloves on and as described below:
Important:
•
It is definitely recommended that the flail knives are always changed a complete set at a time in order to avoid unacceptably high imbalance during
operation!
•
After replacing, the flail knives must be free to swing back and forth from their pivot point!
1.
Loosen the locknut (c) with a SW19 socket wrench from the top through the drill hole provided in the
housing lid. (Prior to this, rotate the blade carrier (e) to the correct position).
2.
The rest of the dismantling and assembly procedure of the flail knives is carried out from the underside
of the cutter unit. (Prior to this, turn the vertical flail unit over or secure in a raised position). Remove flail
knives (a) and their fixing elements (b, c, d) .
3.
Caution: at each blade change the fastening components: bolt (d), collar bushing (b) and locknut (c)
must be replaced.
4.
Push the bolt (d) from below through the blade carrier (e). Now lay the flail knives (a) from above on the
blade carrier and push in the collar bushing (b) so that it fits through the blade bore hole into the blade
carrier. Screw on the locknut (c) and tighten to 85 Nm.
