Considerations for VMU-* boards
VMU-D: This board must not be hot swaped!
VMU-HD:After hot swapping a VMU-HD board all references to announcements are deleted. After re-
insertion of a board of the same type and version it is possible to re-program the
announcements. Otherwise this could lead to wrong announcements.
5.3.1
Shutdown of a
VMU-HD
board
On a shutdown request all individuals on this board as well as all VMU-channels are blocked, so no
new requests to seize VMU-channels are possible and all queued VMU-channel requests are
cancelled. All registers on the board are marked as busy. So these registers cannot be seized any
longer. This is exactly the same as for a shutdown of a BTU-D board.
As soon as a call and process is finished, all individual(s) affected will be blocked automatically. Not
all calls with queued voice channel requests receive a channel, so these calls have to continue after
the voice playing part or be re-routed. After the selected shut down time out elapses, all channels still
playing announcements will be terminated.
5.3.2
Insertion of a
VMU-HD
board
There are two possibilities if a new board is inserted in a slot: There may have been a board of the
same type and version in this slot before or the slot may have been vacant. Before a new VMU-HD
board can be initialized, note that the references to the anouncements and messages of the old board
are deleted. This is necessary because there is no way for the system to check whether the voice
stored on the new VMU-HD board is the same as it was on the old one. Set the command 4603 to
YES to allow recording of announcments. Announcements stored on the board can be retrieved after
an update command by a system programming command via a system telephone (command No.
4450).This does not apply for a new board in a previously vacant position.
5.4
Final Check
Generally a shutdown and restart of a board should generate no warnings. If some warnings are
logged due to this action, open the log, evaluate the warnings and forward them if necessary to the
support centre and, if they are obsolete, erase them.
