4.3.3
Adding (a) new board(s) to the system
One or more boards can be added to the system. These boards can be new ones or updated ones
which are still in shutdown state. There are two ways of adding a new board to an operating system:
a
Replacing a board of the same type (& version)
After a board in shutdown state has been updated or replaced by a new one, it can be added to the
system using the update command (F9) located in the RP menu in RASC. After the process is
complete, RASC receives an acknowledge and this result is shown in the RP menu, now containing
all the data of the operational board (PROM version, revision, etc.).
b
A new board in a formerly vacant position (refer to next chapter 4.3.4).
4.3.4
Search for new boards
The search key (F5) in the RASC RP menu is available for finding new boards in formerly vacant
positions. RASC checks all board positions marked empty or new for boards. If a new board in an
empty slot is found, it is marked as new. The new boards will be reported to RASC and will be shown
in the RP menu. By pressing the update function key (F9) the boards are accepted by the system.
After all boards have been accepted by the running system, the RP menu is built up new, now
displaying all the data of the operational board (PROM version, revision, etc.).
Because the new board(s) is/are initialized with some default data only, (re)programming of the
board(s) may be necessary. After the initialization (and re-programming, if needed) is finished the
board(s) and all individuals are ready for traffic.
Note: When the search function is activated all new AUX-T boards are re-started (regardless whether
newly inserted or already existing in the system). RASC does not show them. When a board is
inserted in a ‘SHUTDOWN’ position and does not exactly match (type & version) the board in-
serted there before will cause the new board not to be accepted. In this case the slot remains
in ‘SHUTDOWN’ state.
4.3.5
Deletion of a board
Not available, restart the exchange to delete a board.
