Operating instructions for safety helmets for work
Congratulations! You have made a very good choice in purchasing this safety helmet.
The helmet complies with the requirements of DIN EN 397 and is a quality product made by en-
gelbert strauss. Safety helmets are part of personal protection and contribute to preventing head
injuries or at least reducing their severity. The protective effect is only achieved if the helmet is
worn properly and the head strap is adapted to the head circumference. Please read these opera-
ting instructions carefully and take note of all the aspects relevant for your safety.
”To guarantee safe protection, this helmet must fit or be adjusted to the user‘s head size.
The helmet has been designed to absorb the energy resulting from impact by partial destruction
or by damage to the outer shell and interior fittings, and any helmet that has been subject to heavy
impact should be replaced, even if the damage cannot be seen directly.
Users‘ attention is also drawn to the risk involved in modifying or removing the helmet‘s original
components against the recommendation of the manufacturer. Helmets should never be adapted
for the attachment of additional parts. Paint, solvents, adhesives or self-adhesive labels may only
be applied or glued in place according to the helmet manufacturer‘s instructions.“
A: HELMET ADJUSTMENT
1. Selecting the correct helmet size
A helmet can only protect you when it is worn properly. Measure your head circumference. Al-
ways put the helmet on with the size adjustment at the back. The helmet must feel safe and
comfortable on your head. To improve the fit even more, use the built-in size adjustment system.
2. Adjusting the size adjustment system
A good fit is a prerequisite for the best possible protection. The head ring is adapted to the size
of your head using the rotary closure in the neck area. Turning anti-clockwise opens or loosens
the head ring. Turning clockwise tightens the head ring continually (fig. 1). In addition, the neck
support (fig. 2) can be adjusted in terms of height and the position of the head strap (fig. 3) can
be adjusted.
3. Adjustment of wearing height
The wearing height of the interior fittings can be adjusted. To do this, remove the pins of the net
and insert them again at the required height. When the helmet is delivered, the fittings are in the
middle position.
4. The correct helmet position
Always position your helmet so that it lies straight on your head, protecting your forehead, but not
restricting your vision. Your helmet should not sit pushed back on your head (fig. 4).
B: CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Always only use water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth to clean your helmet. The interior fittings
and net should be replaced if required. Never use any solvents. Correct cleaning, care and treat-
ment are essential for a perfect function.
C: CHANGES TO THE HELMET
The standard series production version of this helmet was tested and released in compliance
with the respective standard. It must not be modified nor equipped with external components.
Incorrect or external interior fittings, the unauthorised drilling of holes for accessories or other
changes to the safety helmet impair its protective function and lead to its approval being rendered
invalid. Only the spare parts and accessories which match the helmet may be used. Please con-
tact us in cases of doubt.
D: SPARE PARTS AND ACCESSORIES
Only genuine spare parts and accessories may be used.
E: HEARING PROTECTION
Only use ear protectors that are type-tested and approved for your helmet. Please see the res-

pective operating instructions for specifications as well as explanations on use, operation and
characteristics of the protector cups.
F: USABLE LIFE
The protective effect of a helmet is no longer fully guaranteed if it has been exposed to a heavy
blow or impact. A helmet that has been damaged in this way can no longer effectively protect
your head from injury. Even if no damage can be seen from the outside the helmet must still be
replaced. This also applies if the helmet no longer fits properly. The helmet should also be repla-
ced after several years of use even if there are no visible signs of damage. CHECK YOUR HELMET
REGULARLY FOR VISIBLE SIGNS OF DAMAGE!
G: STORAGE
Allow your helmet to dry in the air every time you have used it and keep it in a cool, dry place. High
temperatures (including those caused by direct sunlight, behind glass, in dark bags and luggage
compartments) can seriously damage the helmet. Uneven helmet surfaces and blister formation
are signs of heat damage. These can occur from temperatures of 65 °C upward.
