10 Maintenance and repair
With the exception of replacing the battery unit, no special maintenance work is required for the
WirelessHART Adapter.
10.1 Power supply units
Following a short-circuit at a connection to the main PCB, the power supply unit might be damaged
and needs to be replaced.
Note!
• A low ambient temperature causes a voltage drop within the battery unit. It is possible that the
voltage drop within the unit is so great that the device can no longer be operated.
• A high ambient temperature causes the energy of the battery unit to be limited by self-discharge.
• See the "Temperature restrictions" section on Page
10.1.1 Replacing the power supply unit
Danger!
Risk of electric shock! Any contact with live parts presents a potentially life-threatening hazard.
• Work must only be performed by certified electrical technicians.
• Before opening the WirelessHART Adapter, switch off the power supply and prevent it from being
switched on again. Check that the unit is not live.
• Do not wire the WirelessHART Adapter if it is live.
Warning!
• You may only replace a power supply unit with a power supply unit of the same type. For
example, the "intrinsically safe power unit" version may only be replaced with the "intrinsically
safe power unit" version.
You can order the power supply units from your local Hauser sales partner. See the
"Accessories and spare parts" section on Page
You must first open the housing to replace the power supply unit. Follow the instructions in the
"Operational safety" section on Page
Warning!
• The housing of the WirelessHART Adapter may
not
be opened in hazardous areas if dust is
present. The battery unit can only be replaced in a dusty atmosphere if adequate ventilation
ensures the environment is free of dust.
• The battery unit may be replaced in the presence of gas in a hazardous area.
Proceed as follows to replace the power supply unit:
1. Switch off the power supply. Make sure that the unit is not live.
2. Open the housing of the WirelessHART Adapter by unscrewing the four housing screws.
3. Remove the connecting cable for the power supply unit from the socket on the PCB cover.
4. Simultaneously press the two clips of the power supply unit towards the middle of the power
supply unit and remove the unit.
