CLEARANCES
Top Framing and Finishing:
Combustible framing materials
requires 3/4 inch across top of unit.
See Figure 7
.
Sidewall Clearances:
The clearance from the inside of the
fireplace to perpendicular combustible side wall must not be
less than 6 inches.
See Figure 8.
Fireplace Face Clearance:
For the first 1-3/4 inch back from
face leave 3/8 inch side clearance.
See Figure 8.
Fireplace Side and Back Clearances:
The fireplace outer
casing side (after the first 1-3/4 inch mentioned above) and
back flanges are zero clearance to combustibles.
Fireplace Front Clearance:
Leave at least 36 inches clearance
from the front of the fireplace into the room.
Ceiling Clearances:
The ceiling height must not be less than
84 inches from the floor.

Mantel Clearances:
Vent free fireplace models must use the
hood supplied with the fireplace, or the optional extension
hood available for each model. If a combustible mantel is
installed, it must meet the clearance requirements detailed
below.
