The workshop in which maintenance work is done must be clean and free of dust. The
ingress of dust particles into removed parts can result in increased wear caused by an
abrasive effect.
The workplace provides enough space and shelf surfaces to have all components in easy
reach and for removed parts to be put away sorted.
Always bear the genset’s heavy weight in mind with transporting it and putting it down.
Use suitable lifting gear and secure storage locations.
The genset is switched off and has had at least 5 minutes to cool down.
The genset has been shut down and cannot be started up accidentally (spark plug
connector removed).
DANGER!
Rotating machine parts
Danger of body parts being pulled in
Some test steps and maintenance work must be done during genset
operation.
¨
Before starting, put the genset into a state that is safe for operation, see
. If possible, fit all components removed for
maintenance and make sure that the necessary protective measures are
available and are working.
¨
Wear close-fitting clothes and personal safety equipment.
¨
Perform the necessary work with the utmost care. Pay attention to rotating
parts and hot surfaces, and use only insulated tools.
INFO
Major repairs, particularly work on electrical components and safety
equipment, should be done by an authorised specialist workshop.
Such a workshop is normally also authorised and able to carry out a complete
inspection of the genset, properly install optional special equipment and, if
necessary, document maintenance work in the necessary inspection logs.
7.4.1 Maintenance intervals
ATTENTION!
So that your genset remains in a continuously operational and reliable
condition, it is important to observe the maintenance intervals stated below.
Not observing them can exclude the manufacturer from liability and render
any warranty claims void.
The stated maintenance intervals are guideline values for normal operating
conditions. If the genset is used frequently under full load or in difficult
operating conditions, you should select shorter intervals for your genset.
Each time of use
¨
Only start the genset if the criteria stated in the chapter
“6.1.2 Checking readiness for start-
are fulfilled. Remedy any found faults immediately.
¨
Clean the genset after every use, see
“7.1 Cleaning and care” on page 102
.
