Electrical connection
H
Work on the genset’s electrical equipment and on other electrical systems and
equipment may only be done by a qualified electrician working in accordance with the
rules of electrical engineering.
H
Regularly check the genset’s electrical equipment. Remedy faults such as loose
connections and damaged cables or system components.
H
Before every start-up, check that the safety devices are working. If necessary, network-
specific protective measures must be approved by an authorised qualified electrician.
H
Use only tested and approved cables for the wiring system.
H
Use only insulated tools.
Operation
I
Pay attention to all safety and hazard notices attached to the genset. Keep them
complete and legible.
I
Use the genset only when it is in technically perfect condition. Remedy faults and
damage immediately before start-up.
I
Operate the genset only if all safety-related devices such as detachable housing covers,
caps, soundproofing etc. are present and functional.
I
Every time before you start up the genset, check whether the engine oil and fuel levels
are sufficient for uninterrupted operation. Only top up consumables when the genset is
switched off and has cooled down.
I
Switch the genset on and off as described in the operating manual. Before switching on,
make sure that nobody can be put at risk by the machine starting up.
I
Always start the genset with no load, and constantly monitor the control indicators
during operation.
I
Shut down the genset immediately if you notice unusual changes to its operating
behaviour. Remedy the cause of the fault immediately or secure the genset to prevent it
from being started up again.
Cleaning
I
Clean the genset regularly, particularly the components that are relevant to cooling.
Remove dust, coarse dirt and all residues of oil, fuel, care agents etc.
– Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the substances used in order to prevent
damage to the genset.
– Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents or metallic tools such as wire brushes or
screwdrivers.
– Use fluff-free cleaning cloths.
