Switching off the genset
A short run-down phase ensures that the genset is cooled sufficiently after use. You should
therefore follow the sequence below when you switch off the genset:
¨
First switch off the electrical consumers or disconnect the supply cables from the genset’s
sockets.
¨
Let the engine run without load for approximately 1 more minute in order to guarantee
optimum generator cooling.
¨
Switch off the genset by turning the engine switch to the position
0
.
¨
Clean the genset after every use.
7
Care and maintenance
To keep the genset ready for operation at all times, you should clean it after every use and
inspect it for damage. Any faults found must be remedied immediately and the care and
maintenance measures described below must be performed regularly. For major transport
or prior to long-term storage of the genset, additional measures are necessary to preserve its
function and operational reliability.
DANGER!
Hot engine parts or hot consumables
Burn and scalding hazard
¨
Only carry out care and maintenance work when the genset is switched off
and has had at least 5 minutes to cool down.
¨
Wear safety gloves as a precaution, and also wear eye protection when
handling hot consumables.
¨
Prevent the engine from being started unintentionally. To do this, pull out
the spark plug connector, see
“7.4.2.3 Spark plug” on page 110
.
ATTENTION!
Not following care and maintenance instructions can void any warranty claims
in the event of damage.
7.1
Cleaning and care
Carry out the following care measures after every use:
¨
Remove dust and coarse dirt from all components:
– Use the usual tools such as a hand brush or cleaning cloth.
– If necessary, you can use water and a mild detergent suitable for removing oil and
fuel residues. However, make sure that no water enters the switch box.
– In particular, remove dust and stuck-on materials from the housing’s ventilation slots.
