DC Installation Practices
Before you start connecting the dc load and battery cables to the Data-Voice-Video 3G Power
Solutions, please read the following DC Installation Practices:
To avoid excessive voltage drop and overheating, ensure that the dc load and battery cables
are appropriately sized to handle the maximum dc output current of the Data-Voice-Video
3G Power Solutions. Multi-strand cable with insulation rating of 600-1000V is
recommended.
Run the dc load and battery cables through cable glands where they pass through metal
parts or covers. Also ensure that each cable gland provides firm strain relief and adequate
anchorage for the cable.
Secure and support all dc load and battery cabling inside the Data-Voice-Video 3G Power
Solutions (especially at their connection points) to prevent excessive strain on these cables.
To reduce inductive coupling, separate the dc load, battery and control cabling from the ac
supply cables. If the cables have to cross, run them at right angles to the ac supply cables.
In order to minimize parasitic cable inductance and reduce electromagnetic interference
(EMI), route all dc load cables in close proximity to one another, and avoid large current
loops. The same applies to battery cables.
Ensure that circuit breakers/fuses in the dc distribution(s) are clearly labeled.
Only perform electrical insulation and continuity tests after all dc load and battery cabling
are in place and dc common bus has been earthed.
Connecting the Telecom Earth Cable
The termination point for the telecom earth cable is at the top of the DV2-3G cabinet.
Use the size and type of cable and crimp lug indicated in the following table. Tighten both bolts
to 18.7 - 21.9Nm (166 - 194 inch-pounds).
