Refitting the rear sprocket
If the bearings (4) were removed, to reinstall them, heat the sprocket flange (2) to a temperature of
180
to
200
°C.
Immediately after heating the flange, install the two bearings (4) in the housing. Fit the circlip (7) in the groove in the
sprocket flange, over the bearings. The circlip must be installed with its square edge facing outwards.
Notes
Wait for the rear sprocket flange to cool down to ambient temperature before proceeding.
Check that all the pins (1) are screwed down tight into the flange (2). If not, unscrew the pins
(left-hand thread)
clean the threads
and apply threadlocker to the larger diameter thread (A).
Tighten them onto the flange to their specified torque (Sect. C 3, Frame torque settings).
Fit the sprocket (5) to the flange, orientating it so that the side with the recesses for the retaining nuts is facing outwards.
Apply the specified threadlocker to the small diameter thread (B) of the pins (1) and screw on the six nuts (6).
Tighten the nuts to the specified torque (Sect. C 3, Frame torque settings), counterholding the pins and working in a crosswise
sequence.
Warning
Perform the above procedure with the utmost care. If even a single pin is not screwed fully into the flange before the nuts are
tightened on the sprocket, the sprocket will be installed incorrectly, thus endangering the safety of the rider and the motorcycle.
Install the bush (3) so that is fully seated as shown in the photo.
Locate the flange sprocket spacer (15) on the flange assembly.
