Use
3.1
Prerequisites
Check which protective clothing and which head protection
also needs to be worn during usage.
Follow local and national regulations on the use of respira-
tory protective devices.
The following requirements must be met so that the closed-
circuit breathing apparatus can be used:
The CO
2
absorber (refillable cartridge) was filled within
the last 6 months.
The CO
2
absorber (refillable cartridge or disposable
cartridge) was installed into the closed-circuit breathing
apparatus and leak-tested within the last 6 months.
The CO
2
absorber was transported on a vehicle for no
further than 500 km.
The compressed oxygen cylinder is full.
The leak-tightness and functional test on the closed-
circuit breathing apparatus showed no faults
Under the following prerequisites, the closed-circuit breath-
ing apparatus can be used multiple times by the same user
within 24 hours:
The officer-in-charge decides before each further use
whether the remaining oxygen supply is adequate for
use.
The cylinder valve is fully closed after every use.
This means that the breathing circuit is vented
automatically. The connecting piece is sealed with
the sealing cap.
The compressed oxygen cylinder and CO
2
absorber
are not replaced.
The closed-circuit breathing apparatus is stored upright
at a temperature of more than 0 °C.
At temperatures above +15 °C, the closed-circuit breathing
apparatus must be operated with an ice pack or cooling
cartridge.
3.2
Prior to first use
1. Perform a visual inspection: Is the closed-circuit breathing
apparatus intact and complete?
2. Test the closed-circuit breathing apparatus
3.3
Preparation for use
1. Open the closed-circuit breathing apparatus if necessary
(see chapter 3.3.1 on page 51).
2. Fit the CO
2
absorber if necessary (see chapter 4.4.8 on
3. Fit the compressed oxygen cylinder if necessary
(see chapter 3.3.2 on page 51).
4. Insert the cooling cartridge or ice pack if necessary
(see chapter 3.3.3 on page 52).
5. Test the correct functioning of the closed-circuit breathing
apparatus (see chapter 3.3.4 on page 52).
