Set Event Notifications
With the Notification option, the user can manage how and when to be notified about events. Up to four types
of event notifications are user-selected. See the following table.
At the Notification Setup window, decide:
•
How to be notified. Choose whether to have a pop-up box, an e-mail, the event log, and/or an audible alarm
issue a Notification event.
•
What events to be notified about. Check the applicable check box next to the five event log priority levels. See
Figure 19
on page 100.
The event log priority levels, in ascending order, are indicated in the following table.

Event Notification Types
Event Type
Description
Pop-up
Displays a pop-up message that informs the user of an event on the local system.
Alarm
Sounds an alarm from a system speaker (if applicable) to notify the user of Critical or
Fatal events.
Sends notification events to the specified e-mail address. Also allows the user to
specify a known user's e-mail address as the sender (the mail server and e-mail
address must be configured).
The system name is automatically placed in the subject line of the message and is
included in the body of the e-mail.
Event log
Sends event information to the event log. Warning, Critical, and Fatal events are
default and cannot be disabled.

Event Priority
Description
Low
Displays messages for normal system operations. (This event is not displayed unless
requested by the user).
Informational
The information might be useful to know.
Warning
The system user should to be informed about this event, but will probably not need to
take action.
Critical
The system user must be informed about this event and should take action.
Fatal
The RAID subsystem has shut down.
