Tips for better preserving
The most important tip is thorough preparation and cleanness. Fruit must be fresh and ripe.
Fruit and vegetables must be washed.
Green beans are more durable if slightly cooked first.
Jars for preserving must be washed and cleaned with hot water (overboiled water).
Leave the lids in overboiled water until using them to close the canning jars.
Don´t use broken lids or broken jars.
Fill the jar up to 2 cm under the edge.
When you preserve sausages fill the jar only up to ¾ of its volume.
Jars must be tightly closed.
Bottled fruit store in a cool, dry place.
Always place the jars onto the plastic grid.
Find the desired temperature for preserving in a cookbook or recipe.
The time for canning starts when the pot has reached its desired temperature.
Store canned ingredients in a dark place.
You can write a description on the jars (e.g. date, ingredients).
Overboiling the entire volume takes around 1,5 hours. It’s better to preserve in steam.
Preserving in steam is more economic – fill the pot with cirka 10 cm of water and place the jars on
the grid, close the pot. The preserving in steam wil affect the whole pot.
You can save 60% of energy consumption.
If you decided to pot as classic in water, the glasses should be submerged from 2/3 to 3/4
dipped in water. The top of the glass should be so submerged. The glass jar preview is below.
