►
Plug the machine (1 Fig. 9) into the mains power socket.
►
Press the start button (1 Fig. 10).
►
(400 V three-phase motor only) If when starting the machine the motor turns in the opposite
direction to the arrow shown in Fig. 10, switch the machine off and use a screwdriver to turn the
special device located inside the electrical socket 180° (Fig. 10).
►
Start the combustion engine (see the specific manual enclosed with the machine).
►
Start the tractor and let pressure build up in the additional distributor.
►
Start the tractor and engage the power takeoff at 540 RPM.
Before using the machine, let it idle for a few minutes, to allow the hydraulic oil to
reach the normal operating temperature, above all when the ambient temperature is
near or below 0°C.
►
Without logs on the machine, pull the two control levers (5 Fig. 2) to lower the log-splitting wedge;
then release one of the two levers to check that the wedge stops; if both levers are released, the
wedge returns automatically back up to the fully open position. Repeat these operations more
than once in order to become familiar with the controls and with the up/down travel speed of the
log-splitting wedge.
4.7 CHOOSING THE LOG-SPLITTING WEDGE
If the cross-shaped wedge (optional) needs to be used, simply fit it directly onto the existing standard
wedge fitted on the machine’s column, positioning it so that the fastening pin matches the correspon
-
ding centering slot on the standard wedge.
The fastening pin must be screwed in correctly and tightened so as to ensure the
additional wedge is secured to the standard wedge.
4.8 PREPARING FOR PROLONGED INACTIVITY
A number of operations need to be performed in the event of extended inactivity or at the end of se-
ason:
►
Carefully clean the entire machine with compressed air so as to remove any residual dirt.
►
Make sure all the guards are intact.
►
Check the hydraulic oil level in the tank (top up if necessary) (see 6.5.1 Checks).
►
Place the machine indoors, in a dry and well ventilated place.
►
Protect the machine against knocks and stress.
►

of the wedge support column.
►
