3.5 DANGER ZONE
The zone where the machine operates is called the “working area”. The machine’ s “danger zone”
includes the areas affected by the moving parts and the immediate vicinity.
3.6 PROTECTION DEVICES
The machine is fitted with guards for protecting the people exposed to risks due to the moving parts
(log-splitting wedge) and the ejection of processing material (chips and sawdust).
3.7 STOP FUNCTIONS
►
The machine is fitted with a start (1 Fig.3) and a
stop button (2 Fig. 3).
►
SF 60-80-81-100
- Before pressing the
machine stop switch (2 Fig. 3), move the log-splitter
column to the neutral position at the bottom.
►
Switch off the tractor.
►
Switch off the motor/engine

3.8 SAFE WORKING PROCEDURES
The machine is designed and built with the aim of eliminating all the risks related to its use; none-
theless, the risks due to possible accidental contacts with the moving parts cannot be eliminated
entirely.
To minimize the consequences of such dangers, the following instructions must be follo-
wed:
►
While working, the operator must keep his/her hands on the special handles (5 Fig. 2).
►
During maintenance operations the machine must be disconnected from the power supply (see 3.4
IMPROPER USE).
3.9 RESIDUAL RISKS
During the normal processing cycle and during maintenance, the operator is exposed to a number of
residual risks that, due to the nature of the operations, cannot be completely eliminated:
►
Risk of ejection of fragments due to contact of the wedge with the wood
: wear safety glasses
and protective garments (see 3.10 SAFETY SIGNS).
►
Risk of inhalation of sawdust
: wear filtering breathing masks for solid dust (see 3.10 SAFETY
SIGNS).
►
Risk of entanglement
: wear tight-fitting garments, keep a safe distance from the drive shaft
working area when this is connected to the tractor, even if not actually rotating (see 3.10 SAFETY
SIGNS).
►
Risk of the piece being processed dropping
: wear safety footwear (see 3.10 SAFETY SIGNS).
►
Risk due to use
of the machine with excessively large or heavy pieces to be split (see 5.3 START-
UP).
►
Risk of crushing/impact
: the machine must operate on a perfectly flat and stable surface.
