Testing System Components
Introduction
A variety of tests can be run on your system to verify that the
components are working properly and to identify the source
of any problems. This chapter explains how to perform and
interpret the results of system tests and how to reboot your
system after testing.

Start-Up
Display
Every time you turn on your system, it runs start-up tests that
display important information.
These tests check the components in your system and fill a
status bar on the monitor screen (see Figure 5–1.) When the
status bar fills completely, and the system prompt (>>>) displays,
you know the tests were successful.
