When satisfied, run a bead of V-poxy around the
brackets and secure with a wood screw.
Position of speed brake cylinder brackets.
Run your air lines to the cylinders, keeping in mind
that the cockpit will be positioned directly above the
cylinders.
It is recommended that you use a restrictor in one of
the air lines leading to the speed brake to keep them
from snapping open and closed
If you find that the former flexes under load, cut a
scrap piece of 3-16 inch ply and glue it across the
back side of the former from side to side.
Brakes
There are many brake valve options available. On the
prototype, a BVM smooth stop was used.
A suggested location for the brake valve is just above
the split flap servo on the port side of the aircraft. In
this position, it is easily accessible.
Air Tanks, Meters and Valves
The prototype was set up with four tanks. Two are
ganged together and run the doors and gear with high
volume and a lower pressure of about 80 pounds.
The third tank runs the wheel brakes and cockpit, the
fourth the tail hook and speed brakes.
The four air tanks are installed to either side of the
nose bay area. You may glue them in or use Velcro.
Four air tanks are installed: two on either side of the nose gear bay.
The suggested layout of the main board and air sys-
tems board are shown in Appendix B. Run all air lines
and test the various systems.
