Keep solvents, inflammable liquids and intense
sources of heat away from this unit as they
damage its plastic housing.
When cleaning this unit, ensure cleaning agents
do not get into the unit, as this may cause elec-
trical short-circuit or dangerous malfunction.
E. Description of the product
The Degulux
®
soft-start light curing unit is a
source of high intensity, cold, visible blue light.
The 20 sec., 40 sec. and continuous light curing
settings are for polymerizing dental materials in
the patient‘s mouth which cure at a wavelength
of 400 - 500 nm (e.g. Definite
®
).
The Degulux
®
soft-start also fe atures a soft
start light curing mode which cures at low inten-
sity followed by an increase in the intensity.
The soft start mode reduces the stress in the ma-
terial and is particularly indicated for Definite
®
.
The special 75 Watt Halogen lamp guarantees
high lighting power throughout the entire service
life of the Halogen lamp. An optical filter elimi-
nates the ultraviolet and infrared radiation.
F. Installation
The Degulux
®
soft-start is a cabinet top unit.
Before installing the unit, insert the light guide in-
to the handpiece. The light guide should be in-
serted into the conical end of the handpiece and
pressed in until it locks into place.
When not in use, the handpiece should be
placed on the base unit.
Before connecting the unit, check that the volt-
age range quoted on the Degulux soft-start rat-
ing plate coincides with the mains voltage where
it is to be connected.
Connect the power supply.
Switch the Degulux
®
soft-start on with the flip
switch on the left of the base unit - it is then
ready for use. The green lamp indicates that the
unit is ready for use and shows the curing mode
selected.
G. Operation
The light curing time is set by pressing the preset
time button [soft start (40 secs.), 20 secs.,
40 secs., continuous operation].
Press the black button on the handpiece to
switch on the Degulux
®
soft-start. A beeper
can be heard every 10 seconds while the unit
is in operation.
If the soft-start mode has been selected, the unit
commences polymerization at reduced lighting
power, increases it slowly to maximum and
switches the lamp off after 40 seconds.
If the time has been preset (20 secs., 40 secs.)
the lamp switches off automatically once the se-
lected time has elapsed.
Light curing can be terminated at any time by sim-
ply pressing the button on the handpiece again.
