APPENDIX C. 5219 & 3812 FONT SUPPORT
This section lists all IBM Global Font IDs (GFIDs) supported by the 486 print drivers and
includes special application notes.
NOTE: Some printers do not have font substitution lists; only general guidelines are given for
these printers.
Adobe PostScript
The PostScript driver supports the 35 standard Adobe PostScript fonts. Monospace GFIDs will
cause the PostScript proportional fonts to simulate monospace printing. All other GFIDs use
the monospace Courier, Courier Bold or Courier Oblique fonts. Printing which requires precise
placement of text, such as tables of data created with tabs, should be printed using a Courier
GFID. Proportional spaced GFIDs (PSM) are not fully supported; most PSMs will use Times or
Helvetica.
