on current draw from the mains. The maximum charging current in Mode 3
('Maximum current drawn') must be the minimum value between:
▪
the current allowed by the installed power supply, including wiring
sections;
▪
the current permitted by the local regulations in force. The indicative
values of the maximum currents for each country of installation
should in any case be checked before each installation.
Example 1 -
DazeBox with fixed power limit.
Giorgio has a domestic meter with a contractual power limit of 3 kW and
buys a single-phase DazeBox to power his electric vehicle. The installer
decides to set the DazeBox (without Power Management) to charge at
maximum 2 kW, following Table 4.1. In this way Giorgio respects the limits
of the contract and keeps 1 kW free to use other appliances while charging
the vehicle.
Example 2 -
DazeBox with Power Management.
However, Giorgio (example 1) soon realizes that the decision not to use
Power Management is limiting: it is enough to switch on an energy-hungry
appliance such as a washing machine or hairdryer (both with a minimum
power output of 1.8 kW) together with the electric vehicle being charged to
consume more than the allowed amount (3 kW) and cause the meter to trip.
For this reason Giorgio decides to purchase a Power Management kit for
DazeBox, which allows the power dedicated to charging the vehicle to be
dynamically modulated according to the remaining available power. The
installer decides to set up DazeBox according to Table 4.3, setting the
maximum contracted power value of the single-phase meter (3 kW).
Example 3 -
DazeBox with Power Management and Solar Boost.
Michele has a single-phase system with a contractual power of 4.5 kW and
a photovoltaic system with a nominal power of 4.5 kW. Michele decides to
purchase a DazeBox with Power Management and Solar Boost to take
advantage of solar generation. He then installs Power Management easily,
following Section 4.10, and then sets up DazeBox following Table 4.6. In this
