Appendix E — Troubleshooting
Problem: No Data Output.
When the trigger is pulled, the unit beeps and then triple-beeps, but does not output data.
Error Messages (String Output):
None.
Possible Cause:
POWERSCAN D8590 is not connected (USB or Serial) to the PC.
Solution:
1. Check to make sure the PC supports “High Power Devices” (self-powered hubs, some
laptops, etc.). Right-click on
My Computer
in the Windows
Start
menu, select
Properties
,
click the
Device Manager
button on the
Hardware
tab, expand the
Universal Serial
Bus controllers
menu item, right-click on
USB Root Hub
, select
Properties
, and
then select the
Power
tab.
2. Make sure the PC is not allowed to power down the device. Follow the same path
described above, but select the
Power Management
tab instead of the
Power
tab.
Uncheck the
Allow the
computer to turn off this
device to save power
box if it is checked.
