11.5 Material Velocity Charts 

The 

DFX-7

 has two material velocity charts built into the gauge with both longitudinal 

and shear material velocities.  It should be noted that in order to display the chart 
containing the shear wave velocities the 

TRIG

 mode must be activated, as we’ve 

assumed an angle beam transducer will be used for the inspection process.  The 
procedure is listed below: 
 

Selecting a Basic Material Type 

 

1)  Press the 

MENU

 key once to activate the menu items tab.  Press the 

MENU

 

key multiple times to tab right and the 

ESC

 key multiple times to tab left until 

the 

CAL 

menu is highlighted and displaying the submenu items. 

2)  Use the 

UP

 and 

DOWN

 arrow keys to scroll through the sub menu items 

until 

MAT

 is highlighted.
