A NOTE ON SAFET
To avoid the possibility of inj
cooling fan, carry out all en
with the ignition switched of
fan is not operate.
The fan is controlled by ECM
control module) and conseq
start to operate unexpectedly
When the ignition is on, it is
dangerous to touch live p
electronic ignition system ha
current ignition power than c
systems.
When performing any inspection or
maintenance work on your vehicle, always
exercise care to reduce the risk of
personal injury or damage to the vehicle.
Here are some general precautions that
should be closely observed in carrying out
any service operation.
ï
Do not work on the engine while it is
hot.
Always turn it off and allow it to cool.
ï
Never get under the vehicle while it is
supported by a jack. If it is necessary
to work under the vehicle, use safety
stands.
ï
Keep smoking materials, flames, and
sparks away from the battery and all
fuel and fuel-related parts.
ï
Never connect or disconnect either the
batter or any transistorized component
while the ignition switch is ON(II).
SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
ï
When connecting the battery cables,
pay special attention to their polarities.
Never connect a positive cable to a
negative terminal or a negative cable to
a positive terminal.
ï
Remember that the battery, ignition
cables, and vehicle wiring carry high
currents or voltage. Be careful not to
cause a short circuit.
ï
When performing any checks in an
enclosed space with the engine
running, such as in a garage, be sure
there is proper ventilation.
ï
Keep used oil, coolant and other fluids
out of reach of children and pets.
Empty and used oil/fluids containers
must not be disposed of in the
household repuse waste. Use your
local authorized waste disposal
facilities when disposing of these.
ï
If it is necessary to check beneath the
hood with the engine running, place the
shift lever in NEUTRAL/PARK and apply
the parking brake firmly. Unexpected
and possibly sudden vehicle movement
may occur if these precautions are not
taken.
ï
To avoid the possibility of personal
injury, you should always turn off the
ignition switch and remove the key
before working under the hood unless
the procedure specifically requires
otherwise. If it requires running the
engine while working under the hood,
do not permit any clothing, such as
neckties or handkerchiefs, near the
engine or cooling fan. They can
become entangled in moving parts and
result in personal injury and damage to
the vehicle. Also remove watches,
bracelets, and rings for safety.
