Defining IP Addresses
The
IP Address Page
contains fields for assigning IP addresses. Packets are forwarded to the default IP when frames are
sent to a remote network via the
Default Gateway
. The configured IP address must belong to the same IP address subnet of
one of the IP interfaces. The
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
(DHCP) assigns dynamic IP addresses to devices on a
network. DHCP ensures that network devices can have a different IP address every time the device connects to the network.

Click
Configuration > IP Address.

The IP Address Page contains the following fields:
Field
Description
Static
When selected, the IP address is static and user-defined in the
IP Address
field. This is the
default value.
DHCP
When selected, the IP address is retrieved from a DHCP server.
IP Address
Defines the IP address. This field is active if the IP address is static.
Subnet Mask
Defines the address mask that manages sub-netting on the network. The default value is
255.0.0.0.
Gateway
Defines the default gateway. The default gateway manages connections to other subnets
and other networks.
Management VLAN VID
Defines the management VLAN’s VID.

Select the IP address type in either the Static or DHCP fields.

If
Static
is the defined IP address type, define the
IP Address
field.
4.
Define the
Subnet Mask
,
Gateway
, and
Management VLAN VID
fields.
5.
Click
. The IP address information is defined, and the device is updated.
