Setting the MIDI Channels
If your drum machine is not responding to external MIDI messages as
expected, you may need to adjust its MIDI channel settings. MIDI
channels 1-16 are supported.
To set the MIDI IN channel, press
[FUNC]
+
[MIDI IN]
. MIDI channels are
represented by buttons
[1]
to
[16]
on the front panel. The current MIDI
channel will be brightly lit. Select a MIDI channel by pressing one of the
buttons from
[1]
to
[16]
then press
[FUNC]
to exit the menu.
Set the MIDI OUT channel the same way, except initiate the selection
using
[FUNC]
+
[MIDI OUT]
.
Note:
The default channel for both MIDI IN and MIDI OUT is
Channel 1. Therefore the Drum Drone and Beat Bot will operate with
many MIDI devices without any change to MIDI channel settings.
Filtering Incoming or Outgoing MIDI Messages
To make your drum machine ignore all received MIDI note and CC data,
press
[CLEAR]
when setting the MIDI IN channel instead of selecting a
MIDI channel. All the channel LEDs will be dim when the MIDI input
channel is cleared to show that no MIDI channel is selected.
Similarly, you can prevent your drum machine from sending MIDI note
and CC data by pressing
[CLEAR]
when setting the MIDI OUT channel.
MIDI clock and sync data are not affected by these settings as your
drum machine always receives MIDI Sync messages or sends them out
if it is not receiving any.
Tip!
If you have the MIDI Output from one drum machine connected to
the MIDI Input of a second drum machine, MIDI note and CC data from
the first machine may cause extraneous drum triggers on the second. To
prevent this, disable MIDI note output from the first machine by pressing
[CLEAR]
when setting its MIDI OUT channel as described above. The
second machine will remain synchronized to the first but will not receive
the unwanted drum triggers and MIDI CC messages.
