3. Assign the track's first four bars to play pattern #1 from your red
page of patterns. To do this, first select the first four bars of the
track by pressing
[1]
+
[4]
.
4. Press
[TAP]
to enter Pattern Selection view. Here you can
choose a pattern to assign to the four bars that you selected in
the previous step.
5. Press
[1]
to choose pattern P1 then press
[TAP]
to commit the
selection and go back to Track View.
6. Track View now shows that bars #1 through #4 have been
assigned with pattern #1 as shown by its color. By assigning
patterns to bars 1 through 4 you have extended the length of
the track to 4 bars.
7. Assign bar #4 to play the Fill variation of pattern P1. Press
[4]
to
select bar #4, then press
[FILL]
to assign the Fill variation to this
bar. The Fill LED will light up when you have selected one or
more bars that have the Fill property assigned.
8. Now repeat steps 3 through 7 for bars #5 through #8, except
assign pattern P2 to these bars.
Now you have a simple track with 8 bars. The next lesson will cover
playing and performing a track.
Other Track Writing Tools
You can copy and paste bars within a track. Copy and paste
operations also include the Fill property of the bars being
copied.
You can audition patterns when in Pattern Selection view.
Press
[START/STOP]
to run the sequencer. The sequencer will
loop the selected pattern to help make sure you choose the one
you want.
You can clear bars within a track while in Track View, which will
set those bars to be 16 steps of silence. Clearing bars is done
the same way as clearing patterns in Pattern modes (see
Lesson 13).
