Getting the WAN Interfaces to work
PR2000 Installation Guide

4.5.2 IPX Protocol
For IPX, the required parameters are:
•
Active/Inactive. You can enable or disable the IPX protocol on the
interface.
•
Incoming Filter List Name, Outgoing Filter List Name. If you
want to filter packets in the WAN interface specify the Filter access
lists to be used. Otherwise, leave it blank. The filter access lists are
configured under Config->Security->Filters.
4.6 Configuring the routing protocol for the WAN interfaces
The next item in the Interface Menu is Routing Protocol.
In a small IP installation where the PR2000 is being used to connect class C
networks to a central site, normally there is no routing protocol being used on
the WAN Interface. Larger or more complex networks might require the use of a
routing protocol such as RIP or OSPF. If you are using a routing protocol, select
this option and enable them.
For the RIP protocols (RIP1 and RIP2), the configuration is very simple. You
can separately enable/disable the reception and transmission of RIP
information.
For OSPF, the configuration is more complex and there is a chapter dedicated
to this subject, (see the chapter Configuring OSPF).
4.7 Configuring Traffic Control for the WAN interfaces
There is one more sub-menu in the Interface configuration menu called Traffic
Control. When you select it, CyROS will ask you for a bandwidth number to be
assigned to the interface.
This bandwidth number is defined as "the best estimate of the nominal speed
per channel of the interface in bits per second". This number is used by higher
layer protocols, mainly for load balance and load backup purposes (more details
in the chapter Configuring Multilink Circuits). If multilink circuits or traffic-
shaping functions are not being used, there is no need to set the bandwidth.
Here are some examples:
