5 Embedded Operating Software (EOS)
The Embedded Operating System (EOS) is based on a dual Linux/Android
configuration. Linux provides infrastructure for low-level functions, and Android
provides the Graphical User Interface (GUI). The Impedo Duo is supported by the
Osprey Lite and Osprey Pro software suites.
The latest version of Osprey Lite is available for download at www.ctlab.com . Please
refer to the document Osprey Lite User Guide for information on using Osprey Lite to
interact with the Impedo Duo.

5.1 EOS Subsystems
5.1.1 Meter Gateway
All external communication is handled by Meter Gateway. It serves as the main
control subsystem of the Impedo Duo. As such, when Meter Gateway is not running
remote communication is not possible. The built-in watchdog will restart Meter
Gateway if it should become non-responsive. Restarting Meter Gateway has no
impact on PQ data capturing and recording.
Meter Gateway is responsible for updating the OLED display. If the time is updated
every second, Meter Gateway is running. It houses (amongst others) the following
components:
Space Reclaimer This component is part of Meter Gateway, and is responsible
for deleting data as the internal storage becomes full. See
Section 5.7.3.1 for details on configuring Space Reclaimer.
Health-Manager This component is part of Meter Gateway, and is responsible
for powering off the instrument when health parameters
exceed their limits (see Section 5.7.3.2 for details).
Time-Master This component is part of Meter Gateway, and is responsible
for managing time on the instrument. It determines when
time is valid, and selects the best source of time. Section 0
describes its configuration.
Modbus This component is part of Meter Gateway, and is responsible
for serving Modbus data.
