The Nexus Hand features a two-axis thumb which provides powered thumb flexion and powered thumb
rotation. It has a spring-loaded rocker switch which can be used as a grip switch trigger designed to give
users fast access to a multitude of grips. In the default setup, Table A starts with opposed grips and Table
B starts with non-opposed grips and the thumb pronate/supinate grip switch triggers are for next table and
previous table, respectively.
However, the thumb can be mapped to any function depending on user preference. The thumb has two open
parked positions, opposed and non-opposed. If the thumb is in a non-opposed position and thumb tap pronate
is mapped to next grip and the next grip is opposed, the powered rotation will rotate the thumb into an opposed
position. The thumb can also be manually rotated. The rocker switch additionally has an impact protection
feature, if the user were to fall with the hand in an opposed position, the impact will trigger the rocker switch
and move the thumb into a non-opposed position to prevent as much damage as possible.
