H.4 Managing VersaFEC ACM Operation
The configuration of routes between the CDD-880 and the CTOG-250 is accomplished with the
CDD-880 HTTP Interface. Configuration of Return Link VersaFEC ACM operation is performed on
the CDM-840 HTTP Interface. With a user-supplied, Windows-based PC, both products:
•
Require a compatible web browser for use of the HTTP Interfaces.
•
Require a Network Management System (NMS) and a Management Information Base
(MIB) File Browser for use of Ethernet-based Simple Network Management Protocol
(SNMP).
For detailed information, see:
•
Chapter 6. ETHERNET-BASED REMOTE PRODUCT MANAGEMENT in this
manual.
•
Chapter 6. ETHERNET-BASED REMOTE PRODUCT MANAGEMENT in the
Comtech EF Data CDM-840 REMOTE ROUTER INSTALLATION AND OPERATION
MANUAL (CEFD P/N MN-CDM840).
•
Chapter 6. QUICK START GUIDE in the Comtech EF Data CTOG-250 COMTECH
TRAFFIC OPTIMIZATION GATEWAY WITH CDM-800 GATEWAY ROUTER
INSTALLATION AND OPERATION MANUAL (CEFD P/N MN-CTOG250).
H.4.1 VersaFEC ACM Operation Using the HTTP Interfaces
COMTECH EF DATA RECOMMENDS USE OF THE ETHERNET-BASED SNMP INTERFACES
AND THE SERIAL-BASED REMOTE CONTROL INTERFACES FOR ADVANCED USERS
ONLY. COMTECH EF DATA STRONGLY ENCOURAGES USE OF THE PERTINENT HTTP
INTERFACES FOR MONITOR AND CONTROL (M&C) OF ADVANCED VSAT PRODUCTS.
You may proceed with Ethernet-based Remote Product Management (HTTP or
SNMP), assuming that:
•
Your Advanced VSAT products are operating with their latest version firmware
files.
•
Your Advanced VSAT products are connected to a user-supplied, Windows-
based PC as follows:
o
The PC serial ports are connected to the CDD-880 and CDM-840 rear panel
‘CONSOLE’ ports with user-supplied serial cables.
o
The PC Ethernet ports are connected to the CDD-880 rear panel ‘ETHERNET
| TRAFFIC/MANAGEMENT | GE’ and CDM-840 rear panel ‘ETHERNET |
MANAGEMENT | FE’ Ethernet ports with user-supplied hubs, switches, or
direct Ethernet cable connections.
o
The PC is running a terminal emulation program (for operation of the Serial
Interfaces) and a compatible web browser (for operation of the HTTP
Interfaces)
.
•
You have noted the CDD-880 and CDM-840 Management IP Addresses using
the pertinent Serial Interfaces.
•
The HTTP interface figures as featured throughout this appendix are intended
for user reference only and are subject to change. The firmware information
(i.e., revision letters, version numbers, etc.) as displayed may differ from your
setup.
