Power Supply
The sensor can be powered by either connecting to a PoE port, or using an external power supply via the multifunction
port. The following information pertains to connecting power via the multifunction port. For a description and pin
assignment, see
Multifunction Port
on page 23
.
Note
: If the sensor is connected to a network adapter/switch that is capable of PoE and if you also use the power
supply of the multifunction port, these two power supplies have to be galvanically isolated.
CAUTION
:
Connect the multifunction port only when the power supply is switched off.
l
The shielded Multifunction cable (CCB-2901868-05) is recommended. It uses an M12-12 connector with male
pins, providing access to trigger and inputs.
l
Range: 11 VDC – 30 VDC (rated value 24 VDC); maximum 500 mA. The operating voltage is protected against
reverse polarity.
l
The operating voltage for the DS900 series sensor should come from a 24 VDC power supply that is only used
for measuring equipment and not simultaneously for drives, contactors or similar pulse interference sources. Use
a power supply with galvanic isolation.
