LAY OUT REVIEW
Review the previous Location and Site information before
you begin construction of the shelter.
You (and your contractor, if any) are responsible for
providing a suitable foundation/structure for the shelter,
the soil conditions, and weather (including but not limited
to wind, rain, snow, frost, and ice, etc.). Depending on
location, climate and weather, timbers or other posts may
need to be anchored with concrete or packed limestone in
the ground at least 4' to prevent movement caused by frost
and other weather related loads. Consult the building codes
(if any) for your area before you construct the shelter.
Consult a qualified contractor before you begin construction
of your shelter.
ATTENTION:
To install and secure the cover properly,
position the rafters to the outside edge of the wall or post.
This allows the main cover to drape evenly down the side
of the wall where it is secured to ratchets.
Read the following before you begin construction:
•
Width:
Consult the Post Layout diagram at the back of
this manual.
•
Length:
Consult the Post Layout diagram at the back
of this manual.
• The top of the posts must be level and at the
designated height. The building frame will not assemble
properly if the top of the posts are uneven or set at a
height not shown in the drawings.
• Post or wall thickness: The thickness of the support
post or wall must provide a surface for the entire
mounting base of each rafter foot. See the diagrams to
the right.
REMEMBER:
The cover of the building attaches to the
outside of the wall—roll-up side only. Position rafters as
shown in the diagrams for both sides.
• The support posts or wall must support the load
created by the shelter plus the additional loads
imposed by the wind and other elements. Timbers
(6" x 6" or larger) to accommodate the rafter mounting
feet are acceptable. Consult a contractor if you are
constructing a support wall using concrete.
• Standard and approved building techniques are
required. You must observe and adhere to all local and
national building codes and requirements. Consult a
professional, qualified contractor when in doubt.
• Due to the characteristics of the pipe (including bend
radius) and the design of the shelter, there are often
slight variations in the width and height of the building.
Covers and end panels purchased or supplied with
the shelter include sufficient material to accommodate
these variations.
ATTENTION:
As described in these instructions, the
support posts are set first and then the rafter feet are
attached as shown above. Rafters pipes are set on the
mounted feet; rafters are assembled in sections.
