Handling the Illumination Lamp

Only touch the exterior surface of the illumination lamp. Do not touch the 
bulb, which is located in the center of the reflector, nor the inner (concave) 
surface of the reflector. Skin oils adhere to the bulb and reflector, which 
reduces the cooling efficiency of the bulb and thereby creates a hot-spot 
leading to premature burnout. Handle by the outside of the lamp only, as 
shown in 

Figure 151 on page 159

.

9. Holding the new lamp only on the outside,

, 

replace it in the assembly, aligning the two pins in the rear with the corresponding 
tracks in the socket ensuring the alignment bumps on the lamp is aligned with the 
notch in the lamp bracket and pushing it gently and evenly into place.

10.

Check the position of the new bulb to make sure that the reflector of the bulb is located 
in the center of the lamp socket’s opening.

11.

Push the lamp assembly drawer back in carefully. Use caution to avoid pinching wires 
in the area.

12.

Replace the two screws on the small front panel.

13.

Route the camera handpiece connector and handpiece focus connector through the 
appropriate holes in the plastic front panel.

14.

Reconnect the camera handpiece connector and handpiece focus connector. 

15.

Re-attach the plastic front cover.

16.

Reconnect the fiber optic cable.
