Chapter 12 Installing Battery Backup Units
Disabling and Enabling the BBU in the Router
Disable the BBU via BBU Single-Pin Connector on the Router Cable Harness
Step 1
Locate the appropriate cable port on the base of the chassis, port 3 in
Figure 3-7
in the
“Router Hardware
Description”
chapter. The chassis is labeled BBU CONNECT beside port 3 (see
Figure 12-8
). Use the
1/2” or 13mm socket wrench to remove the cable port plug.

Step 2
With the cable port plug removed, a single-pin connector is visible and protrudes slightly from the open
cable port. Pull this connector out of the chassis and disconnect it.
Note
There are approximately two inches added lengthwise to the wires to pull these connectors
outboard of the chassis. Caution should be used so as to not damage the wires and interfere with
the BBU functionality.
Step 3
Check the LED next to port 3 and ensure it is off to confirm the BBU is successfully disconnected.
