(4) Install the rear seat back, (Refer to 23 - BODY/
SEATS/REAR SEAT BACK - INSTALLATION).
(5) Install the rear seat cushion, (Refer to 23 -
BODY/SEATS/SEAT CUSHION - INSTALLATION).
(6) Connect the battery negative cable.
(7) Verify normal power top system operation.
SWITCH - POWER TOP
DESCRIPTION
The power top switch is located in the in the center
floor console.
The switch has three distinct functions:
•
To p D o w n -
This is the first detent on the down
side of the switch. Holding the switch in this position
will lower the top only.
•
To p D o w n /4 w in d o w d o w n -
This is the sec-
ond detent on the switch. Holding the switch in this
position lowers the convertible top and all 4 windows
down simultaneously only if held in this position.
•
To p U p -
Holding the switch in this position
raises the convertible top to the closed position. It
will also lower all 4 windows approximately 3 inches
to prevent seal damage. The windows must then be
raised to the full up position by the vehicle operator.
The power top switch cannot be adjusted or
repaired. If the switch is damaged or inoperative it
must be replaced, (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/
POWER TOP/SWITCH - REMOVAL).
OPERATION
The power top switch is hard wired to the Body
Control Module (BCM) through the Power Top
Switch Mux circuit. The BCM supplies a multiplexed
voltage of approximately 90% of ignition voltage to
the power top switch. Through a series of resistors
the power top switch switches the circuit to ground.
The circuit resistance is varied depending on the
switch position. When a top operation input is
received by the BCM, it will ground the respective
power top relay control circuit which in turn will
operate the power top motor. If the power top switch
is pressed and held to the down position second
detent, the BCM will command the window drop
relay assembly to drop all windows to the fully down
position.
DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING

The wiring infor-
mation includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and
connector repair procedures, details of wire harness
routing and retention, connector pin-out information
and location views for the various wire harness con-
nectors, splices and grounds.
Any diagnosis of the power top system should
begin with the use of a scan tool and the proper
