3.2.1 REMOTE RADIO CONTROLS

pu lled t o gr ou n d t h r ou gh differ en t va lu e r esist or s
bu ilt in t o t h e swit ch es. Th is ca u ses a volt a ge dr op t o
be seen by t h e BCM a n d it sen ds a specific m essa ge
t o t h e r a dio on t h e P CI Bu s cir cu it . Th e r a dio t h en
r espon ses t o t h e m essa ge.

3.3 BODY CONTROL MODULE
Th e body con t r ol m odu le (BCM) su pplies veh icle
occu pa n t s wit h visu a l a n d a u dible in for m a t ion a n d
con t r ols va r iou s veh icle fu n ct ion s. To pr ovide a n d
r eceive in for m a t ion , t h e m odu le is in t er fa ced t o t h e
veh icle’s ser ia l bu s com m u n ica t ion s n et wor k (t h e
P r ogr a m m a ble Com m u n ica t ion In t er fa ce or P CI
bu s). Th is n et wor k con sist s of t h e body con t r ol
m odu le (BCM), power t r a in con t r ol m odu le (P CM),
sen t r y key im m obilizer m odu le (SKIM), t h e elect r o/
m ech a n ica l in st r u m en t clu st er (MIC), com pa ss/
m in i-t r ip com pu t er (CMTC), a ir ba g con t r ol m odu le
(ORC), opt ion a l a n t ilock br a kes (ABS), t h e opt ion a l
a u t om a t ic t em per a t u r e con t r ol m odu le, t h e opt ion a l
