7.2.2 Sample measurement for papers (sheet materials)
1) Weigh a sample before measurements (weight

2) Hold the sample by a paper holder, put it by tilting at 15º to the measuring position, set the
calibration curve number of this detector unit to 0, and then read its display (absorbance
"x"
).
3) Weigh the sample after the above measurement (weight
W
2
). Perform the measurements from (1)
to (3) as quickly as possible.
4) Perform the same measurements on all samples. For these measurements, the same surface (front
or back) of the samples should be measured and the same measurement sequence should be
taken.
5) Put all samples into a dryer, and dry them until they become in the absolute dry condition (Drying
for more than 2 hours at 105ºC is usually required.).
6) After drying, put all samples into a desiccator containing silica gel, and allow them natural-
cooling.
7) Weigh each sample (weight

).
8) Record the measured value in the following table every measurement, and obtain the moisture
contents by the following formula.
