COMMISSION & START UP
System Flushing:
Proper s ys tem cleaning and flus hing is an important as pect of the commis s ioning
and s tart up procedure for hybrid units . Ens ure the s ys tem has been flus hed properly.
This prevents fouling of the unit’s heat exchangers.
NOTE: Hydronic coils are not 100% drainable.
System Fluid:
Ens ure that s ys tem water temperature is within an acceptable range to facilitate s tart
up for cooling (80-120°F) and for heating (100 – 140°F).
System Water pH:
Sys tem water s hould have a neutral pH balance of approximately 7.5 which will
extend the life of the hos es , heat exchangers , and other water side acces s ories .
Water Flow Rate:
Open all isolation valves to the unit. With the unit in operation, ens ure that the
entering and leaving fluid temperatures are acceptable. There is typically an 8 to 12
degree drop or rise in temperature, depending on whether the unit is in heating or
cooling. Under extreme conditions , slight variances in the temperature may be noted.
Freeze Protection from Water System:
Ens ure that freeze protection is provided for the outdoor portion of the loop water
s ys tem. Inadequate freeze protection can lead to coil damage.
NOTE:
A potential is s ue may aris e during cons truction where the s ys tem fluid loop is
drained after being cleaned, flus hed, and tes ted. Hybrid vertical s tack units will not
completely drain and may hold fluid in the condens er or heating coil. Extensive
damage may res ult to internal components if the sys tem fluid freezes as a res ult of
inadequate glycol being pres ent.
Remove Air from System Fluid Loop:
