Safety instructions
Only use the devices in accordance with the operating instructions. Keep the operating
instructions in a place accessible to all users of the device.
Never tamper with safety devices. Do not use the lid and chamber of different series together.
The surface of the appliance (metal and plastic) becomes hot during operation. Use suitable
protective gloves.
This device must not be used in potentially explosive areas.
Only use the device with the intended mains voltage.
Only intended for use in laboratories by technically trained personnel. Do not use in the
household.
Never operate the unit without water.
Filling level for 12-litre unit: min:1 litre (max. 1.5l); for 18-litre unit: min. 1 litre (max. 2l).
Do not autoclave caustic charges or saline solutions. This will cause corrosion of the unit, which is
made of an aluminum alloy.
Demineralized water can cause pitting (mix with tap water to avoid this).
When not in use, be sure to remove the water from the chamber (to avoid deposits and pitting!).
Do not heat any tightly closed vessels (especially glass bottles), as there is no pressure
compensation.
Use only water to generate steam. We recommend distilled water. DO NOT use demineralized
water from an ion exchanger, this will cause pitting corrosion. If only demineralized water is
available, mix with tap water (approx. 1/3)!
Do not discharge steam in the direction of persons - risk of burns. Fit a temperature-resistant
hose (ø inside 10 mm) to the exhaust steam tap so that the hot steam can be discharged directly
into a sink/vessel. Article no. 8582016 - Hose 1.0m.
When autoclaving liquids, there is the possibility of boiling the liquid (boiling delay), provided the
steam is quickly drained manually. To avoid this, the autoclave should be cooled down to 70°C at
room temperature without opening a valve.
