NOTE: If door interlock switch is used, black power
lead will be connected to the door interlock switch wir-
ing (not to the disconnect switch).

11. Locate the germicidal bulb. DO NOT TOUCH

GLASS ON BULB. Grasp the bulb only by the base
(non-glass part). Clean the bulb using a lint free wipe
and isopropyl alcohol. Make sure O-ring on bulb is
toward the accessory and push into the 1-in. hole until
seated. Hold the bulb in place and lock into place by
installing the spring wire fastener to the lances on the
bulb.

12. Push on the power plug. Do not force. Rotate

90 degrees if necessary.

13. Affix the ultra-violet light warning label to the outside

of the unit, in plain sight, on all access doors. Replace
label when worn. See Fig. 10.

14. Test all circuits and return power to unit. Accessory

bulb should glow with a blue hue. If bulb cannot be
seen briefly back out bulb and view from safe distance.
replace bulb when done. If bulb does not glow, check
wiring, safety interlock, or replace bulb.

MAINTENANCE

Disconnect all power before performing any maintenance

or service.

Bulbs need periodic replacement to maintain design specifi-

cations. Replace bulbs after 6000 hours of operation or 1 year,
whichever comes first. For best performance, replace bulbs at
the beginning of each cooling season.

Bulb output can also be checked with a UVC radiometer.

Replace bulb when output falls to 70% of initial reading

The following bulbs can safely be used with this accessory:

• CRSGLTUB001A00 (16-in. tube)
• CRSGLTUB002A00 (20-in. tube)
• CRSGLTUB003A00 (24-in. tube)
• CRSGLTUB004A00 (30-in. tube)
• CRSGLTUB005A00 (36-in. tube)

Other bulbs may plug into the accessory, but they should not

be used. Non-approved bulbs will overheat bulb and power
source. Normal operation temperature for the bulb is 80 F. Nor-
mal operation temperature for the power source is 125 F.

OPERATION

While lit, bulb color should be light blue. If bulb color

changes to red or flickers, replace the bulb. Bulbs that are not
light blue will not emit ultra-violet radiation and will not kill
harmful bacteria or fungi.

Fiberglass filter media are recommended for operation of

HVAC when filters are exposed to ultra-violet lamps. Polyester
or cotton filters are subject to ultra-violet degradation and are
not recommended.

Use only specified high-output, low temperature bulbs with
this accessory. Use of a lower wattage or incorrect bulb can
result in damage to accessory or bulb. Correct bulbs have a
blue end cap.
