4. PRINTER TRANSPORTATION METHOD
This section describes the procedures for transporting the printer (for returning after repair, etc.).
1.
Keep the print head and ink tanks installed in the carriage.
2.
Turn off the printer, and secure the carriage, locked in home position. (When the printer is turned off,
the lock pin automatically locks the carriage in place.)
Caution:
If the print head is removed from the printer and left unprotected, ink (in particular, the pigment black ink)
is likely to dry. For this reason, keep the print head installed in the printer, even during transportation.
Also, securely lock the carriage in the home position to prevent the carriage from moving and applying
stress to the carriage flexible cable, or causing ink leakage, during transportation.
Note:
If the print head must be removed from the printer and transported alone, perform the following:
1.
Install both the black and color ink tanks (to prevent the nozzles from drying).
2.
Attach the protective cap (to protect new packaged print heads) to the print head (to protect the print
head face from damage due to shocks).
